PART 2 of My Mexico Holiday ia about our stay at the Holiday resorts, Hacienda El Carmen
Whilst driving from our Wedding shoot on day 2 back to Hacienda El Carmen, I asked Jose Villa, what does hacienda mean, he simply said this, It’s like a villa, a modern house for families, a large family used to live in a Hacienda and all Hacienda’s were characteristic of having a Garden courtyard in the middle. A couple of families lived in a Villa. A Hacienda also had huge gates, probably to enclose and safeguard a villa from outsiders or enemies.
I find it quite ironic that Jose Villa’s surname is villa and thinking of it, He might have the same meaning as Hacienda 😉
I loved everything about the Hacienda, the portraits, the wooden carvings, the plates, the isles, the Trees, the secret passages.
The Hacienda also has a wonderful Spa, this was a major highlight and simply life changing. What’s amazing about Mexico, is that everything is very cheap, the US Dollar is 1 to 18 Peso’s (Mexican currency). So for a hour spa treatment it was priceless.
At the reception, you make a booking for a spa session, when you arrive 30 minutes earlier, you have to ring a bell in order for you to enter, a Mexican custom, I guess. Once in the spa you go through a series of treatments, Including, a steam room, walking on rocks with squirting water from the sides to a hot jacuzzi, ending with a 30 min back message. Joel Serrato, said to me afterwards, drink a lot of water, because your body looses so many toxins after a session, man, O, man was he right!!!
I shared a room with Koby Brown in this amazing Mexican Resorts, I had the best roommate ever, we had long chats and He was kind enough to introduce me to film, which i’m very grateful for. Koby, if you’re reading this, i’m grateful for your friendship and thank you for being the best roommate ever!!!
I took a couple of images of our room, the amazing thing was the slippers i got from Hacienda El Carmen. If you are a traveler and seek an amazing Mexico resorts, Hacienda El Carmen is definitely the place to visit.
The highlight of each morning was the breakfast. It was pure Mexican style and Hacienda El Carmen had a huge variety of fruits, pastries and english Mexican breakfast to choose from. Afternoon lunch, i must admit, i could not get enough of guacamole.
What i love the most about Hacienda El Carmen, is the secret passages and rooms that one can discover. Up until the last day, i still was discovering secret rooms and passages. Amazing. I also love the fact that is the Hacienda is very old, vintage and has a plant and tree life that is well established over a couple of hundred years. Hacienda El Carmen is situated in Guadalajara, Mexico and the locals say, its famous for sunsets. we experienced a couple of breathtaking sunsets that i have never seen before in my lifetime.
Hacienda El Carmen is now considered one of my all time favourite places in the world. I can see why it was very hard for Jose Villa to have his 10 year, final chapter workshop in Mexico. At the Welcome dinner Jose mentioned how special, Hacienda El Carmen to Him and Joel. Jose told this incredible story of how he always used to bring his friends to the Hacienda El Carmen. I found out later that Hacienda El Carmen, was Jose and Joel honeymoon destination 13 years ago, making it even more special for them.
Hope you enjoy the online gallery, i tried my best to capture the heart and every little detail of our experience at this magical place called Hacienda El Carmen
Hacienda El Carmen, i will miss you and cannot wait for us to meet again!!!
